midnight rambler

do you ever have those nights that you can't get to sleep, so you make lists in your head?

Well I was doing this last night, and even managed to do it in a dream.
I'm compiling a list of the stuff I need to get before I push this baby out, essentials really... like bras and towels and exciting things like that. It's amazing how I'm consumed by getting ready now... I guess its just another pregnancy symptom, I think you could put it down to nesting.

I managed to buy 36 nappies on trademe for $50 over the weekend, which is great!
They are the old school white squares with pink stripes, which I thought was better than spending $30 per peice on the more modern fitted nappies, and these ones can be folded to fit, as I have a feeling this baby may have long skinny legs! I like the idea of the nappies blowing in the wind on my washing line, and it really fits with our ex-state nana house theme! :)

I will be using disposables in the first few days, as apparently baby has black poo which stains cloth nappies and I think it will just be more convenient, I will probably also use disposables when we go out too, but I really don't want to use them full time as they are loaded full of chemicals and the thought of them sitting in a landfill somewhere grosses me out. I've been amazed on how much we have cut down on rubbish since we started composting and better recycling, I think we have used 7 rubbish bags since we moved in in June last year, great eh? I intend to keep it that was, and even do better, so flushing babies poo down the toilet has to be done!

It's gotten really cold in Wellington over the last few days, I think I might have jinxed the good weather by complaining about it too much, oh dear. Anyway, have the merino on today and it's good to not be sweating up a storm!

I have 4 more working days after today, and the lovely Jane, my replacement starts on Wednesday, so life will be even easier then, as I can get her to do everything, whilst I sip cups of tea and try to remember everything I have to tell her about Thistle Hall.

I will miss this place, but I intend to join the board once baby and I have gotten into the kind of routine which will allow me to step out once a month on a Wednesday night for a few hours.
It will be great to be able to keep in contact with all the lovely ladies on the board here, who have been so supportive of me in the last 2.5 years.

God, cuz, I can't believe how much of your latest post you and I have in common! I use cloth nappies for the most part. Terry towelling, white and some coloured, together with a nappy liner - makes cleaning them so much easier! You just tip the mess into the toilet and drypail the nappy and liner. Using disposables when out and about is handy though.

Now that Cameron is a little older (he's 21 months) we are getting him into more of a routine, esp since we are looking into enrolling him for two day a week daycare. It'll be good for him to make friends and have more stimulation than he gets at home. He can still attend playgroup, but it's only two hours a week, not enough on it's own.

Anyway, won't rattle on. Keep me posted on proceedings, this is bringing back some memories!

All the very best for a smooth delivery!!! Have you checked my on-line album yet? Ask your mum if she has too. I hope she got my e-mail about it.
