Pipi spyed this guy at the park on our walk on Chrsitmas eve...Had to bring him home. Now that I have done extensive research on fledgling birds, I shouldn't have bought him home, his parents were probably around feeding him.
anyway, no regrets. He is now a part of our small family and named Tweeter Bird.
Even in the week he has been with us, he has grown so much... at first we fed him worms (whole) and bread soaked in milk, using chopsticks, also some water from a syringe. Now he is bigger I am feeding him the chicken food soaked in milk (they eat crushed grains).
We went camping to Kaitoke for a few days and he lived in the bush, returning for feeds every few hours, thought we could release him there, but he wasn't ready to feed himself. So now he lives in the trees outside the back door and sits on the step calling out when he is hungry. We love him.
