A bunch of us with kids went one a lovely three night winter getaway to Tokaanu, near Taupo. We stayed here, at the historic Tokaanu Post office, now converted to an ample rental accommodation, which was perfect for three one child families and a dog. I recommend it. Heaps of space for us all, children's toys and table and chairs, well set up, and a thermal bore hot pool right on the deck. It was very relaxing and everybody had a great time.
Activities included visiting the village green across the road... about 3 or 4 times a day...
This lucky horse is named Bailey, he was very gentle and sweet and happily ate all we fed to him.
We ventured up Ruapehu for some sliding.
We had to laugh, our usually chilled boy was having none of this crazy snow stuff...
Ruby was eating the stuff, climbing up cliffs and doing the robot.
