Womad 2010

Womad was AMAZING.

Taane was a legend. He slept through very loud techno in his buggy,
stayed up late, danced, ate, played and made lots of new friends.

Highlights include these guys on the first video, Te Whanau a Apanui.
They were awesome and Taane was into it. Great crowd participation.
He loves stomping his feet thanks to this workshop.

Also, The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble,

We saw them twice and both times Taane wigged out.
Didn't want to wear the earmuffs. But then had settled moments too.

I have to admit, our tag team parenting was pretty hot, I think we both felt we got to see enough stuff and entertain Taane if he was getting bored. The key was to feed him constantly, so now he has a thing for gelato and nut bars!

The kids area was great, except that the zoo was closed, but we got to see some tamarin monkeys and the red panda. They had an under 5's area with free bouncy castle and face painting.

We checked out Taste the World stage this year, which was a highlight. It's like a live cooking show with the artists at the festival cooking food from their culture. We saw Nortec collective making fish tacos. Some of the recipes are here on the Taste The World section. http://womad.co.nz/festival.htm

Full credit to Andy for bum rushing the camera all weekend, and taking most of these lovely photos. :)
